Language classes are divided into two autonomous courses: the Italian Language class and the Development of oral skills class, held by different teachers in order to offer a wide variety of language and teaching models. Regarding the content of the courses, our school adopts the syllabus used by the School of Italian Language and Culture for International Students of the University of Genoa.
LANGUAGE
ITALIAN LANGUAGE
This is an all-inclusive language class, a complete Italian course which aims at developing all four fundamental skills, both written and oral, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In line with our method, authentic material is considerably provided, thus texts which are not created for educational purposes. Moreover, extensive consideration is given to the free production in which the student focuses on the content and not on the grammatical structure.
DEVELOPMENT OF ORAL SKILLS
This course is not planned to be a conversation class next to the main course as a mere help, but as autonomous language class which focuses on the main aspect of the language, the oral dimension. It aims at developing listening and speaking skills which are still often overlooked due to the tendency to organise courses basing on grammar only. In order to follow the natural process of language acquisition, firstly, it is important to concentrate on the listening and secondly on the writing, especially at the low levels.

THE SYLLABUS
The syllabus is the list of all the subjects of a language course which are appropriate for a specific proficiency level and organized according to the order in which they have to be shown to the learners. In order to provide scientific validity and educational rigour to our courses, we adopts the syllabus used by School of Italian Language and Culture for International Students of the University of Genoa, whose director, Francesco De Nicola, is the scientific and educational supervisor of our school. One of the authors of the syllabus, Maria Teresa Caprile, is part of our staff as coordinator of the language courses.
